We want to make sure you have everything you need for a successful transition into college. Once you've applied, New Student Programs can help you get ready for your first semester.

Next Steps for New Students

In order to register for classes at Columbus State, you must follow these steps:

  1. Apply for Admission
  2. Prepare your finances by filing the FAFSA, applying for scholarships, and reviewing the tution and fees page
  3. Complete placement requirements by doing one or more of the following:
    1. Completing placement testing
    2. Submitting ACT score reports
    3. Submitting SAT score reports
    4. Submitting AP score reports
    5. Submitting IB score reports
    6. Submitting previous earned college credit
    7. Submitting your high school transcript
    8. Submitting your GED transcript
  4. Access your Columbus State student email account

Please officially submit your transcript to be evaluated. Click here for more information on how to submit your transcript. Once you submit your official transcript, please have an unofficial transcript with you when you visit Drop Ins listed below.

An advisor will look over your unofficial transcript for placement (English, Reading, and Math) and pre-requisite courses for intended program of study. This may result in referral to department for course recommendations depending upon credits completed.

New Student Programs Email

If you have questions about updating or changing your program registration or need need additional assistance registering, please email orientation@cscc.edu 

Please use your Columbus State Student Email Account and be sure to include your full name, CougarID number, and your question. You should receive a response within 3-5 business days. 

New Student In Person Drop Ins

You can speak with a College Transition Designer in person. You may visit the lower level of Madison Hall during the hours listed below. Drop in meetings may be limited to 15 minutes. If you need/want longer or more dedicated time, please make a virtual appointment. Additionally, please have your Cougar ID number and questions ready before you come to campus. Please note: You may be referred to your recommended New Student Program prior speaking with a Collegete Transition Designer.

In Person Drop Ins will be closed on Monday, October 31st and Monday, November 28th due to New Student Orientation

Virtual Phone Appointments

You can speak with a College Transition Designer virtual through a scheduled phone appointment. Appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes. If you need/want longer or more dedicated time, you will need to make a follow up appointment. Additionally, please have your Cougar ID number and questions ready before scheduling a virtual phone appointment. Please note: You may be referred to your recommended New Student Program prior speaking with a College Transition Designer.

If you are interested in completing courses at Delaware or a Regional Learning Center, you can find your Advisor for that location as well.

If you plan to complete courses at the Delaware Campus, please find your Advisor by choosing Student Services on the Delaware Campus website.

 

If you plan to complete courses at a Regional Learning Center, please find your Advisor by choosing your location on the Locations website.

 

If you are a student at another college and want to take courses at Columbus State with the intention of transferring them back to your own college, you are what we call a “transient student”. We welcome you to Columbus State and look forward to helping you on your educational journey!
