Student support available from Student Advocacy Center

Columbus State’s Student Advocacy Center is designed to assist students with basic needs and challenges they may face. The Center may be able to provide COTA bus passes, housing or rent assistance, child care vouchers, and more.

COTA Bus Passes
The Student Advocacy Center has free bus passes available for Columbus State students enrolled in at least one course – credit or non-credit. Passes may also be used for the COTA Mainstream paratransit service. Note: Students must first register for the Mainstream Service through COTA. Students should visit the Student Advocacy Center Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. located in the Center for Workforce Development (WD), room 1018, in the back half of WD at 400 Grove St., across the street from the Mid-Ohio Market at Columbus State. 

Success Bridge 
The Success Bridge Housing Stabilization Assistance program was created to help Columbus State students achieve housing stability. Success Bridge provides campus and community resources to support students through the completion of their degree. Eligible students must have at least 24 credit hours completed at Columbus State, enroll in at least nine credit hours each semester, reside in Franklin County, be in good academic standing or have an approved academic plan, and be at least 18 years old. Complete an application.  

CCAMPIS Voucher 
The Student Advocacy Center is now accepting applications for the CCAMPIS Childcare Voucher. The Voucher is available to help Columbus State students pay child care costs and can be used at the Center for Early Learning at Columbus State or any other local child care provider. Eligible students must be enrolled in a certificate or degree program at Columbus State, have a 2024-2025 Pell award, provide documentation of application for Title XX/PFCC from JFS, and a completed voucher application. Renter Mentor
Columbus State students now have access to expert housing support with Renter Mentor. This service connects individuals to affordable housing and educational opportunities, including housing unit referrals, landlord-tenant rights and responsibilities, housing choice vouchers, and eviction prevention.
