Learn about Ohio's version of the "Stop Woke Act" on October 24

Student News | Monday, October 10, 2022

Maybe you've heard about Florida's "Stop Woke Act" or "Don't Say Gay" law. Pushing back against the national “racial reckoning” of 2020, many state legislatures and school boards--not just in Florida but across the country--have sought to limit what schools can teach about history, structural oppression, and unconscious bias.

There are three bills currently pending in the Ohio Statehouse that follow this national trend, and Columbus State's Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are hosting a panel discussion for students, faculty, and staff to learn more about the bills will disrupt educational practices in Ohio. In addition, the panel will accept questions about the bills’ potential impact on student learning, campus culture, and more at Columbus State.

Join us for “Dissecting “Divisive,” A panel discussion about Ohio’s proposed “divisive concepts” bills. It will be held on Monday, October 24 from noon to 1:30 p.m. on the fourth floor of the Center for Workforce Development (the building next to the Bookstore).

In Person: Workforce Development Building Ballroom (RSVP appreciated but not required.)
Virtual: RSVP for Zoom Link.
