College hosting two community events for Second Chance Month

In celebration of Second Chance Month and National Reentry Week, reentry and community groups in Central Ohio have united to host a powerful two-night event on April 26 and 27. Join the events to lift up the power of community and the unique experiences of returning citizens during National Reentry Week, officially the last week in April.

Apart: film screening and discussion
Ohio has one of the largest populations of women in prison in the nation. The film Apart traces the story of three women as they work to rebuild their lives after incarceration. A special screening and conversation about the film will be held on Tuesday, April 26 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in the Mitchell Hall Culinary Theater. Register here for the free event. 

Convicted and Condemned: a Community Conversation 
Local reentry experts and those directly impacted by the justice system will be joined by special guest Keesha Middlemass to discuss why a criminal conviction is a lifelong sentence. Middlemass is a reentry scholar, Brookings Institution Fellow, and a Howard University associate professor. Hosted by Harrison Poku-Yeboah and presented in collaboration with the Vincentian Ohio Action Network, ACLU of Ohio, the Franklin County Reentry Advisory Board, and the Columbus Coalition for the Homeless. The event will be held on Wednesday, April 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Mitchell Hall Event Center. You may register here for the free event. You may attend in person or virtually.
