Trade Adjustment Assistance
You May Qualify for Trade Adjustment Assistance
If increased foreign trade is the reason you lost your job, or the reason your hours
of work or pay have been reduced, you may benefit from Trade Adjustment Assistance
(TAA). TAA helps trade-affected workers get the skills, resources and support they
need to find suitable employment as quickly as possible.
Trade Adjustment Assistance may include:
- training
- assessment
- counseling
- income support
- job search allowance
- relocation allowance
To qualify for TAA, you must:
- have worked for an employer who is eligible for TAA (certified by U.S. DOL)
- have been laid off due to lack of work during your employer's certification period
- other restrictions may apply — talk to your local Trade Act representative to learn
