Job offers or job scams? Know the difference

Student News | Monday, June 9, 2025

Searching for a job is an essential step in building your career, but it’s also a time to stay alert. Scammers often target students with fake opportunities to steal personal information or money.

Here are some signs that a job offer may be a scam:

  • No interview or real interaction
  • Sent from a personal email (examples: Gmail, Yahoo, or AOL)
  • Requests for money, gift cards, or banking information
  • Vague details or rushed communication
  • Too good to be true
