Several Columbus State Automotive Technology students are working alongside students from the Ohio State University Center for Automotive Research on a Battery Workforce Challenge project.
The Challenge is a three-year competition joining universities with vocational partners, community colleges, trades, and apprenticeship programs.
The goal is to design, build, test, and integrate an advanced EV battery into a future Stellantis vehicle. The Department of Energy and Stellantis sponsor the Battery Workforce Challenge.
Earlier this month, the Columbus State/Ohio State team traveled to Detroit to present at its first judged event at a Winter Workshop. During the visit, it was revealed that the test vehicle for the competition is a new Dodge Pro Master van. While in Detroit, students and faculty were able to tour the Chrysler Tech Center and the Conner Center.
