King’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail” discussion set for January 26

In celebration of Columbus State’s annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Week and the life, service, and activism of King, the Black Student Union, in collaboration with the MLK Planning Committee, will hold a virtual panel discussion on the historic “Letter from Birmingham Jail.”
Panelists include Columbus State professors Reuel Barksdale, Paul Cook Sr., Robyn Lyons-Robinson, and Jennifer Nardone. The moderators from the Black Student Union will be Le’Ken Stokes, president, and Charity Treat, vice president.
The event is free and open to the public but preparation is recommended. Organizers suggest attendees read two documents and view one video ahead of the event to prepare for the discussion of the historically significant letter, its themes, and relevance in society today.
