Columbus State, OSU sponsor When East Meets West Symposium March 1

“The Most Active and Vital Force: Modern Youth Protests in China and the USA” will be the topic at the sixth annual When East Meets West symposium.
Jeremi Suri, professor of Public Affairs and History at the University of Texas, will discuss the origins of the Cultural Revolution in China in his talk, “A Revolution From Above That Turned on Its Leader.”
Mark Horger, professor of Human Sciences at The Ohio State University, will address the recent activism of American athletes. Horger wrote a paper on the topic, “Taking the Knee and Other Gestures: Social Protest in Sport.”
When East Meets West is sponsored by Columbus State’s Humanities Department and the East Asian Studies Center at Ohio State. The symposium will be held on Tuesday, March 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. on Zoom.
