Last week to sign up for the Buckeyethon Columbus State team

Student News | Monday, September 23, 2019

Columbus State is participating with the Ohio State University (OSU), helping raise money for kids with pediatric cancer. Buckeyethon first started in 1999. Proceeds go to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in the Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. Buckeyethon is open to all students at Columbus State Community College.

The last day to register is Friday, September 27. If you are unable to sign up, feel free to donate to the team. Ultimately, the goal is to raise this money for the kids so any contribution makes a difference. The link to sign-up or donate is: www.cscc.edu/buckeyethon.

There are a couple of events that Buckeyethon hosts on the OSU campus. If you want information on how to join, or more information about Buckeyethon, you can email Columbus State student Abby Kelly. Most of the interaction leading up to the end-of-year dance marathon will be meetings that the team captains host at Columbus State.

Buckeyethon is not only a great cause, but helps Columbus State students get in touch with those in the community that need the support most. It’s also an opportunity for you get to know people around Columbus that you wouldn’t have already met. There are fun events and fundraisers throughout the year that you have the opportunity to go to. You may even meet some of the families affected by pediatric cancer and kids who are in the battle themselves. After a year of fundraising, there is a Dance Marathon in February. That’s the annual celebration of the fundraising that Ohio State has done for the year in support of Nationwide Children’s Hospital. This past year, Buckeyethon was able to raise $1.7 million. So, consider joining the movement and push the mark to $2 million.
