Education Faculty Bios:
Bree Frick
Bree Frick is the lead instructor for the education-themed courses within the department. She holds an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction and an M.A. in Educational Psychology. She spent eight years teaching public middle school before pursuing graduate research that focused on motivation, goal orientation, and teacher beliefs about creativity.
Bree helps coordinate pathways between CSCC and area institutions that offer teacher licensure and certification programs. She is dedicated to helping students interested in a career in K-12 education find their strengths, and guiding them toward teacher licensure programs that suit their needs.

Kelly Broxterman
Dr. Kelly Broxterman holds a B.A. in Psychology from Mount Mercy University, an M.A. in Special Education, and a Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of Oregon. She has extensive experience as a school psychologist, district-level trainer, and MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) consultant. Before joining Columbus State, Dr. Broxterman served as an associate professor in the School Psychology program at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
She has also served as a lead coach for the Illinois MTSS Network, a federally funded State Personnel Development Grant initiative focused on delivering professional development and technical assistance to school districts across Illinois. In 2025, she received the Distinguished Teaching Award at Columbus State in recognition of her excellence in teaching and commitment to student success.
Dr. Broxterman is the co-author of three books focused on MTSS and systems-level change in schools. Her work centers on building sustainable, data-driven practices that support outcomes for all students.
