Program Outcomes
When students have successfully completed the two semester Phlebotomy program, they
should be able to:
- Demonstrate proficiency in all areas of phlebotomy related to pre-analytical processes
of laboratory testing, recognizing and adhering to infection control and safety policies
and procedures.
- Demonstrate the theoretical knowledge needed to assure the quality of phlebotomy processes
through appropriate quality control methods, thus contributing to the accuracy of
laboratory test results.
- Exhibit the professional attitudes and behaviors that are necessary for gaining and
maintaining the confidence of the health care community.
- Meet requirements to take a national certifying examination for Phlebotomy Technicians.
Program Outcomes Measures
The Columbus State Community College Phlebotomy Certificate Program is a certificate
that is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS) which is a part of the Multi-Skilled Health Degree. The program outcomes of this certificate as defined by NAACLS is the ASCP Certification
Exam pass rates, program completion rates, attrition, and job placement for students
entering the final half of the Phlebotomy Certificate Program.
The program outcome measures for the students entering the final half of the Phlebotomy
Program for the past three years (7/1/18 - 6/30/21) are as follows:
Graduation Rate: 98%
Attrition Rate: 5%
Job Placement Rate: 100%
