To students who are concerned about taking online classes, a note from the Chair of
the Art, Media & Design Department, Gene Burleson:
As Faculty in the Art, Media & Design Department, we know this stay-at-home period
can be challenging at times. Many students need the traditional in-class instruction
that our Faculty provide under normal circumstances. Since our current situation has
required us to move all classes online for a period of time, please don't be afraid
of taking an online class. Our Faculty has been teaching online classes for many years
and can help you, direct you, assist you with assignment questions or issues you may
have, it's just not face-to-face. We want to work with you to keep you moving forward
to help you graduate on time with all the knowledge you need to be successful. Go
ahead, sign up for Summer Semester classes and let us work with you, keep you on track,
you'll be surprised at how successful you can be in an online class, it is fun!
The purpose of the Digital Design & Graphics program is to prepare students for professional
employment in the quickly growing field of digital design. The program teaches skill
sets and problem solving that directly relates to the needs of the marketplace. This
allows students to learn how to communicate ideas with any digital medium with clarity
of thought and conceptual design.
The key to success in this profession is the development of cross-curricula skill
sets due to the convergence of digital media. The convergence of digital media is
the cross-integration of multiple digital disciplines and technologies. Design, photography,
web design, audio and video production have become so integrated that soon one name
will represent them all.
The Digital Design Program will enable students, through individual and collaborative
exploration, learn to communicate effectively, create innovative visual design concepts,
and develop a balanced digital design skill set demanded by the industry of today
and the future.
