What is College Credit Plus?
The College Credit Plus Program (CCP) is one of the many strategies employed by the
State of Ohio to reach the goal of having 65% of our population holding an advanced
degree, certificate, or other postsecondary workforce credential of value in the workplace
by 2025. The purpose of this program is to promote rigorous academic pursuits and
to provide a wide variety of options to college-ready students.
Beginning in the 2015-2016 academic year, the Ohio Department of Higher Education
(then the Ohio Board of Regents) added legislation to the Ohio Revised Code requiring
secondary school districts and colleges/universities to work together to offer college
course work that results in transcripted college and high school credit.
The CCP Program is governed by the state, however, schools may tailor CCP offerings
to accommodate student needs and available resources. Administrators are responsible
for knowing and implementing the program as required by Ohio Revised Code.
Students should work with their school counselor to obtain specific CCP information
about participating at their middle or high school.
More details on CCP legislation and funding can be found in Ohio's CCP Handbook or by visiting Ohio's College Credit Plus Website.
