Franklin Hall renovations will transform building into dedicated instructional center

Renovations to Franklin Hall taking place from the Autumn 2025 term through the end of 2026 will invest $35 million to create a hub for modern classrooms and labs in the 46-year-old building

Franklin Hall is undergoing a full interior redesign and infrastructure overhaul, turning the three-story, 42,000-square-foot former administrative building into a center for general education classes. Construction is scheduled from summer 2025 through the end of 2026.

When completed, Franklin Hall will house the college’s most modern classrooms and labs, designed to support active, collaborative teaching and learning. Upgraded and expanded classroom space in Franklin Hall will also enable the college to significantly increase the speed and volume of its classroom renovations in other downtown campus buildings.

Franklin Hall renovations are funded through a combination of Franklin County bond support and state capital dollars, and is the college’s largest classroom renovation project to date. The building is expected to reopen by Spring 2027 semester.

While under construction, Franklin Hall will cease to be a pass-through point to the campus courtyard. Visitors to campus can access the courtyard from the east from either parking lot flanking Franklin Hall.

Project partners are Erdy McHenry Architecture, JLL, MA Design, Ruscilli Construction, BCL Enterprise, EDGE and IMEG.
