Columbus State played a supporting role for a six-week program designed to advise, coach, and prepare grandparents and caregivers who provide kinship care for their grandchildren and family members. Funded by the Franklin County Office on Aging, the participants met each Tuesday evening earlier this summer in the Center for Workforce Development.
Educator and motivational speaker Tei Street designed, led, and facilitated the program. Administered by St. Stephen’s Community House, Grandparents University equips participants for the important roles they have taken on in raising and providing care for their grandchildren.
Street said, “Equipping the caregivers with resources to make raising these children doable is paramount, and having a partner such as Columbus State professionalizes it for these dynamic grandparents.”
