Retroactive Course Drop Petition

(Effective 1/1/2025)

Effective January 1, 2025, the Retroactive Course Drop procedure will replace the previous Administrative Withdrawal and Tuition Adjustment Request procedures.

Effective January 1, 2025, students with extenuating circumstances that made it impossible to drop a course by the established deadlines (100% refund deadline, 50% refund deadline or last day to drop deadline) may submit a Retroactive Drop Petition Form and all required documentation to request a retroactive drop exception to the College policy.

Eligibility: Satisfactory grades (A, B, C, or S) are not eligible for a Retroactive Course Drop. Petitions can be submitted up to eighteen (18) months from the end of the term for which a retroactive course drop is being sought unless the student also is seeking financial consideration in which case the initial petition must be submitted within three (3) months of the end of the term. Retroactive course drop petitions submitted after these timelines will not be considered.

Submission Process: If you receive financial aid, we strongly encourage discussing any potential financial consequences with a Financial Aid advisor (Financial Aid) prior to submitting the petition. It is also recommended discussing potential academic impact with an Academic Advisor (Academic Advising).

Review Process: Petitions will be reviewed by a committee of Columbus State faculty, administrators, and staff. Decisions will be communicated to within six (6) weeks of your submission and will be sent to your student.cscc.edu email address.

If you have any questions regarding the Retroactive Drop Petition process or form, please submit an email to retrodrop@cscc.edu.
