Student Conduct Hearing Board
The Student Conduct Hearing Board plays an integral role in resolving allegations of violation of the Student Code of Conduct. It ensures that students are given the opportunity to have their matters heard by a representative body of CSCC constituents. The pool of Board members is comprised of students, faculty, and staff who are trained in the Student Conduct process as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct. The members of the Board are committed to facilitating student learning, growth, and development, as well as fostering a safe campus community. Semesterly participation varies depending on members’ availability, but they are typically asked to serve on one to two hearings in a given semester.
The Office of Student Conduct regularly seeks new members to join the Student Conduct Hearing Board. By joining, members gain valuable critical thinking and reasoning skills, experience in policy interpretation and application, and help to make the campus community a better place. It additionally expands the opportunity to build professional networks and prospects for mentoring. All memberships are held on a volunteer basis but are encouraged to be maintained for at least an entire academic year. Columbus State Community members that join will receive annual training with the Office of Student Conduct.

Why our current Student Conduct Hearing Board members serve:
“Outside of teaching, I consider my work as a member of the Student Conduct Hearing Board as one of the most important roles I serve at CSCC. Helping students recognize their rights and responsibilities in the campus community and (in facilitating Academic Integrity Workshops) guiding them so that they can make better decisions in the future reinforces the fact that faculty are authentically invested in the success of students.”
- Ann Palazzo. Professor, English Department“My motivation for serving on the Student Conduct Hearing Board is a desire to participate in a fair and equitable resolution process, resolving issues that put students at risk of a successful college experience. I think students, especially, community college students, sometimes find themselves in situations that compromise their pathway to productive careers. The participants on the Student Conduct Hearing Board have an opportunity to help students get back on track….” - Tom Moffitt. Adjunct Instructor, Business Programs
