Get your Financial Aid Award Letter earlier! Early submission of the FAFSA can help students avoid missing deadlines as well as maximizing the amount of aid for which they may be eligible. Students can file their FAFSA for the upcoming school year as early as October 1st of the previous year.

- Get your financial aid award letter earlier! (Always check your CSCC student email and Financial Aid Self-Service).
- Get your books before the semester starts (book funds, if eligible, are available about 7 days before the start of the semester).
- Avoid being dropped for non-payment and removed from your classes; you’ll have your awards sooner, so you can pay tuition and fees before the due date.

Depending on where we are in the semester, it may not be too late! We encourage you to log back into FAFSA.ED.GOV and complete the correct year. Funds may still be available.
Log into your CougarWeb account and click on Financial Aid Self-Service. Then click on Select Award Year to view the appropriate year’s information. Review the checklist—specifically if the FAFSA shows as being completed.
You can log into FAFSA.ED.GOV to verify which year’s FAFSA you have completed. Additionally, you can continue to check both your Columbus State student email as well as Financial Aid Self-Service on your CougarWeb account for important information.
Log into your CougarWeb account and click on Financial Aid Self-Service. Then click on Select Award Year to choose the correct year. Review the checklist to determine if you need to complete any steps. If all steps on the checklist have been completed, click on the Financial Aid tab at top of page and select Award Letter. Review your awards and accept/decline as necessary.
