Are you a dislocated worker or have you been laid off or lost your job as a result
of international trade?
Columbus State can assist students with developing the pricing estimate, requested
by their county funding agency, so the agency may determine eligibility for government
funding (TAA and/or WIOA) to pursue a new career path at CSCC.
Who is eligible?
|
- People who have lost their jobs as a result of international trade or overseas contracting
or production may be eligible for TAA.
- Adults, dislocated workers, and out-of-school youth who have been laid off may be
eligible for WIOA.
*Columbus State does not determine student eligibility*
|
What is TAA?
|
When a job is lost or at risk, or hours and wages are reduced as a result of international
trade and through no fault of their own (i.e., laid off), workers may be eligible
for special federal assistance called Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA). This assistance
provides education, training for a new job, and other benefits provided by the government.
|
What is WIOA?
|
WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) was developed to help job seekers
and workers access employment, education, training and support services to succeed
in the labor market. The services are provided through local (county) American Job
Centers within the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
