Community Engagement

Community and civic engagement is at the core of Columbus State’s strategic agenda. While College staff, faculty, and students continually interact and support the community in many different ways, our annual Day of Service event provides a large-scale demonstration of the College’s commitment to service.

Day of Service

Columbus State’s Day of Service returned September 27 after being canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. Nearly 900 people signed up to take part, including more than 200 students. While some volunteered to assist on campus, many others spread out and pitched in at 53 area organizations. One student who was volunteering at Goodwill Reynoldsburg made such a good impression that she was hired by the organization!

Civic and Community Engagement

Civic and community engagement is defined as "working to make a positive impact in your community by identifying and addressing issues of public concern." By developing meaningful relationships with community partnerships, Columbus State Community College helps students become active change agents in their community through volunteering, servant leadership, and social activism. The Student Engagement and Inclusion office coordinates civic and community engagement opportunities throughout the year, read more at Civic Engagement.
