Train to become a Student Poll Worker

Student News | Monday, August 3, 2020

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many older Americans who typically manage our polling places have had to withdraw. It is essential to keep polling places open to enable full participation in the 2020 election. Campus Compact believes that college students can play a critical role in protecting our election by serving as poll workers and educating their peers about the need.

The Campus Compact Safe Elections Project will enlist and train 300 students to recruit their peers as poll workers for the November 2020 election. Campus Compact will train the Student Recruiters to be effective digital organizers and educators about the importance of poll workers in our democracy.

Student Recruiters from Ohio Campus Compact member campuses will receive a $500 stipend upon completion of three weeks of work during summer 2020. Applications are open until Wednesday, August 12. You may apply at this link: https://compact.org/education-for-democracy/safe-elections-project/recruit/.
