Nomination Process

Compass awardNominations are currently being accepted for students who embody the four fundamental creed values of the Society of the Compass. Faculty and staff may submit a nomination form for any student who has graduated since the previous Spring semester, or plans to graduate in the current academic year.

  • Faculty nominations deadline is January 30th, 2026
  • Student application deadline is February 27th, 2026

The Committee will notify eligible nominees and provide instructions for the student application process.

All faculty and staff are welcome to nominate students who meet the following criteria:

  • Nominees must have completed at least 30 credit hours at Columbus State Community College.
  • Nominees must be recent graduates of Columbus State (since the previous Spring semester) or students planning to graduate in the current academic year (Autumn or Spring).
  • Nominees must be Columbus State students who, in your experience and professional opinion, have performed and behaved in a manner worthy of this exclusive group of students according to the Society of the Compass creed.

Final decisions on the student candidates to be inducted will be made by The Society of the Compass Committee. The inductees will receive special recognition at Spring Commencement and will be honored as part of a Society of the Compass induction ceremony with President Harrison.
