Accreditation
Educational pharmacy technician training programs must adhere to all state regulations.
This includes accreditation by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and
The American Council on Pharmacy Education (ASHP/ACPE). Beginning in April 2019, all
educational pharmacy technician-training programs in Ohio must be accredited.
The Pharmacy Technician Program at Columbus State was granted accreditation in January
2019 to meet state educational training requirements. Accreditation is confirmed by:

Graduates are eligible to sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE)
offered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (www.ptcb.org)
Beginning in 2020, all CPhT candidates will be required to complete a PTCB Recognized
Education/Training Program OR equivalent work experience. The Pharmacy Technician
Program at Columbus State Community College is a PTCB-Recognized Education/Training
Program for the CPhT Program and received this status in April of 2019.
