Voices in the Street: Stonewall at 50
On June 28, 2019, the Humanities Department presented a Multi-Media Collage to mark
the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots that paved the way for Pride events and
LGBTQ recognition. The presentation, in Nestor Auditorium, included video, commentary,
performance, and a historical gallery display.
Concert Band
On Tuesday, November 6, 2018, the Columbus State Concert Band celebrated the Twentieth Anniversary of its founding with a concert at 7:30 pm in the Lincoln Theatre 769 E. Long St.,
just a few blocks from the downtown campus. The ensemble featured current students,
alumni, faculty and staff members, and members of the community.
East Meets West Symposia
The fourth annual When East Meets West symposium was held Friday, September 27, 2019
The topic was Knights & Samurai - Legends and Reality, and featured Dr. Richard Kaueper, Dr. Melinda Landeck, Ken Mondschein, and Dr. Morton
Oxenboell. This event, co-sponsored by the OSU East Asian Studies Center, was held
at the Columbus State Conference Center, 4th floor.
The third annual When East Meets West symposium was held Friday, September 28, 2018.
The topic focused on Health and Healing Across Global Cultures, featuring scholar-speakers Dr. Carla Nappi, Dr. Maddalena Rumor, Dr. Roberto Padilla,
and Matthew Davidson. This event was held at the Longaberger Alumni House at The
Ohio State University.

American Crossroads Symposium
The American Crossroads series highlights pivotal moments in American history from
the colonial era to the present, and invites interested students, faculty, local high
school teachers, and the general public to hear top scholars address historical issues
that still resonate today.
On February 22, 2019 the department hosted its 2nd annual American Crossroads symposium.
The topic was Make America 1919 Again?
Anti-Immigrant Sentiment, a Century and Back.
Speakers included Felix Harcourt, Krystyn Moon,
Maddalena Marinari, and John Flores.
