GIS certificate: Upon completion of this certificate, students can work in diverse industries that use geographic information systems including government agencies, health care, construction, banking, land-use planning, transportation mapping and analysis and emergency response. Additionally, students who have no additional educational credentials can use this certificate as a first step to earning the GIS A.A.S. degree and other higher education degrees.
GIS AAS degree: Graduates with the Geographic Information Systems A.A.S. degree typically work as GIS technicians and analysts, and the demand for professionals capable of performing tasks in this field continues to increase. Graduates can work in diverse industries that use geographic information systems, including government agencies, health care, construction, banking, land-use planning, transportation mapping and analysis and emergency response.
Transfer: Students with the Geographic Information Systems A.A.S. have successfully transferred to four year institutions across the country. Articulation agreements exist for the GIS A.A.S. to Bachelor’s degrees in Technical and Applied Studies (Ohio University) and Applied Management (Franklin University).
