Developmental Education courses are now provided by the English Department and Math Department. Developmental Ed courses help students get ready for college-level coursework.

The Developmental Reading/Writing Center provides walk-in assistance for students enrolled in any DEV reading, writing, or COLS course:
DEV 0155: Basic Composition
DEV 0140: Intermediate Reading
DEV 0145: Advanced Reading
DEV 0151: Basic Grammar
DEV 0152: Basic Punctuation
COLS 1101: College Success Skills
DEV 0198: Special Topics in DE
One-on-one tutoring is available for students needing more than walk-in assistance. Students may sign up for half-hour blocks of time to work with tutors on assignments for developmental classes. Although the tutors cannot proofread or edit writing assignments for students, they can provide help with prewriting, drafting, revising, or specific editing issues. The sign-up sheet is posted in Aquinas 214.
Closed-reserve textbooks for the courses listed above are available for use in the center.
Computers are available for completion of developmental reading, writing, and COLS coursework. Assistance is available from the tutors on duty.
Prospective CSCC students may also seek help in preparing for reading and writing placement testing (or placement retakes) through our College Readiness Center function.
