Courageous Conversations to focus on “women’s voices”

Columbus State Community College’s Courageous Conversations series will continue this year with events designed to empower women.

Launched in 2015, the Conversations are periodic public forums designed to engage the community on issues impacting central Ohio and beyond.
We are now at a moment when women's issues have captured national attention. This year the College invites central Ohioans to engage in a transformative, intersectional dialogue on gender, race, leadership and more with female influencers and leaders.

Courageous Conversations: Women's Voices

• Feb. 8, 11:30 a.m. "The Courageous Voice of the First Woman to Run for President" featuring Columbus State professor Dr. Judith Dann, Nestor Hall, 488 Mt. Vernon Ave

• Feb. 8, 6 p.m. "Follow the Leadership of Black Women" featuring Yvette McGee Brown, Ohio's first African-American state Supreme Court justice, Nestor Hall, 488 Mt. Vernon Ave

• March 22, 9 a.m. "4th annual Women's Leadership Summit, Empowerment in Action!" featuring Piper Kerman, author of "Orange is the New Black," Center for Workforce Development, 315 Cleveland Ave. (Day-long event featuring luncheon keynote.)

• March 29, 6 p.m. "Women in Business: Addressing Pay Equity" featuring Elizabeth Brown, Columbus City council, Center for Workforce Development, 315 Cleveland Ave.

• April 17, 4:30 p.m. "The Change Makers" (Speakers to be announced)

• April 23, 4:30 p.m. "The Silence Breakers" featuring activist Tarana Burke, founder of the "Me Too" movement, Center for Workforce Development, 315 Cleveland Ave.
