University of Phoenix is a private, for-profit university founded in 1976 as one of the first universities focused on education for working adults. The University of Phoenix's primary campus is located in Phoenix, Arizona, but all courses, programs, and services are available to students online. The university is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and has over 76,000 students enrolled in over 100 majors and programs. Students are able to transfer up to 90 credit hours of course work toward an U. Phoenix program.
