Part-Time Cohort
Our part-time plan allows you to earn a degree in Respiratory Care while juggling
your busy life. It’s a clear path to an in-demand career.
Starting Autumn 2021, Columbus State is offering a part-time cohort program for our
Respiratory Care Associate of Applied Science degree program. The class will meet
at consistent times for 8 semesters, allowing you to schedule it around your work
schedule and family life. Better yet, you'll learn as part of a designated cohort
of students, building relationships and professional contacts with your fellow students.

This program is intended for students already in the healthcare field, such as CNAs
or Medical Assistants, who are looking to move up in their careers. Students can keep
their jobs - and their benefits and seniority - while training for the next step.
Demand for Respiratory Therapists is expected to increase 21 percent by 2028, and
the ongoing coronavirus crisis has made them even more vital. Respiratory therapists
take care of patients who have trouble breathing, consult with physicians to develop
treatment plans, and operate ventilator equipment. In 2022, the median annual salary
for a respiratory therapist was $70,540. (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics)
Plan of Study
Students will follow the standard Respiratory Care plan of study, only spread out
over 8 semesters and at consistent dates and times.
