FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
The drug screening is usually completed within 3-5 days, after submitting the sample for testing. The background screening usually takes anywhere from 10 business days to an additional five weeks depending on if the student has a criminal history.
In short, we look for a background with no criminal history. However, if the student has a criminal history, we will review the student’s record on a case-by-case basis.
The student will receive two adverse action letters via-postal mail. The first stating that an infraction was identified on their record, providing the student the opportunity to dispute the findings with Corporate Screening. Depending on the infraction, the letter will enclose their drug test results, BCI and FBI report, and a summary of their consumer rights under the Fair Credit Report Act. The second adverse letter will be sent to the student ten business days later informing that they were denied placement into the program. At this point, the student will not be able to register for the course(s) in their respective program of study.
The deadlines are established by your academic program. Please make sure to complete the process of registration and submitting your sample for drug testing and fingerprints for the background screening, by the deadline established by your program. This will help to prevent delays in processing and registration into your courses.
Please contact the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) at 1-855-224-6446 and select option “0”. If BCI has sent out your results and we still have not received the results, please email our office with your name and cougar ID# at hhsbackground@cscc.edu . Our office will submit a request for another copy to be sent to our office. Please do not send your request until it has been at least 30 business days, since you submitted your fingerprints.
No – every student must complete their background and drug examination with Corporate Screening that relates to their academic program of study.
The cost is $116.74 for both the background and drug screening.
The background and drug screening results are good for 1 year from the date of completion.
Yes, however the results cannot be more than one year old and the program will need to be notified that the process was completed for another Health and Human Services program and the date of completion.
A Medical Review Officer (MRO) from the laboratory will notify the student and request verification of the prescription medication. Please make sure to register with a valid telephone number, in order to complete this process. Drug Screen results will be reported as a positive by the laboratory, if this process is not completed with the Medical Review Officer.
This means that the sample cannot be tested, because it is extremely diluted. When this happens the student is responsible for paying for another drug screen to be retested.
You will need to contact your Program Coordinator to get approval to extend the drug screen testing timeframe, otherwise you may have to pay an additional fee of $35.00 to complete the drug test. Please pay attention to expiration date on your drug screen authorization form that you receive after registering online.
No. The HHS division and clinical sites do not accept medial marijuana prescriptions at this time.
If a student has a positive drug screen the student will be denied acceptance into the HHS Program or will be removed from the HHS Program and/or clinical and may be subject to disciplinary action. Further, the student may be prohibited from participating in any clinically based Program in the Division of HHS for a period of 12 months. After 12 months, should a student reapply to a clinically based HHS program and re-test positive, that individual may be permanently barred from clinically based programs in the Division of HHS at CSCC. https://www.cscc.edu/services/health-records/pdf/Drug%20Screening%20Guide.pdf
