Distinguished Full Professor Award
The Distinguished Full Professor Award recognizes faculty members who have achieved the rank of Professor and who continue to perform in an exemplary manner through service, scholarship, innovation, leadership, and other professorial achievements. It is intended both to recognize those professors whom faculty should emulate and to reward professors who show outstanding leadership at the college. The award was first given in 2011.
2022-23 Distinguished Full Professor Award Winners
The 2022-23 Distinguished Full Professor Award winners are, from left to right: Amine Kidane, Biological & Physical Science; Adele Wright, Engineering & Technology.
Amine Kidane, Biological & Physical Sciences – Has been with the college since April 1991 and became a full professor in January 2016. Eric Kenz, Associate Professor had this to say regarding Amine’s value as a colleague, “When I first met Amine, his level of academic/professional expertise and countless personal talents was nothing short of inspiring. In a department that has seen its fair share of leadership changes over the years, I could always count on the opportunity to learn from (whether he knew it or not) a very disciplined and principled, Dr. Kidane. I quickly learned that I could trust his honesty and learned to understand that Amine acted in the interest of the greater College community not himself.” Professor Mort Javadi states “Dr. Kidane has actively contributed to the success of our college. He has been a long serving member of the Curriculum, Assessment, Sabbatical, Tenure and Promotion, and Medical Benefits Committees. He is a detailed oriented person and reviews materials carefully. Serving on the Medical Benefits Committee, he shares valuable information with us which is greatly appreciated.”
Adele Wright, Engineering & Technology – Has been with the college since 2003 and became a full professor in January 2016. She is a long-standing co-chair of the College’s Assessment committee and is the departmental Assessment chair. Adele is a member of the Academic Council and serves on the Division Curriculum committee. Shane Bendele expressed his support for Professor Wright and her contribution to the development of our department's first web class which has been transformative, and her utilization of the new high Flex classroom has enhanced student engagement and learning. Her willingness to take on new technical areas and her not-shy attitude has made her a valuable member of our faculty.
