Columbus State’s July Full-time Staff Employee of the month is based in New Albany, and the part-time awardee works at the Delaware Campus.
Full-time
Michelle Whited is the Aspire coordinator for the Office of Talent Strategy. The two-year employee works at the
college’s Northeast Franklin County Accelerated Training Center in New Albany. Tara Wrighter, Aspire manager, nominated her.
“Michelle has gone above and beyond her role by welcoming all prospective students from many different countries, meeting with students individually who express concerns regarding classes and life in general,” said Wrighter in her nomination. “Michelle has a great attitude and is a reliable team player who willingly supports colleagues, embraces challenges, and maintains a positive outlook even under pressure and working beyond her scheduled workday when needed.”
Wrighter added, “As a result of her commitment…Columbus State Aspire continues to improve its state performance metrics each month and has celebrated students who have completed the program and transitioned to Columbus State credit courses and/or obtained new work opportunities.”
Part-time
As a part-time employee, Callum Knott is fairly new to the college. He was hired in 2025 and is a Delaware Student Services
generalist at the Delaware Campus. Advisor Kelly Mackay nominated Knott.
“When a student feels particularly overwhelmed by the student onboarding process, he has been known to give them a quick tour of the building and find ways to connect with them,” said Mackay in nominating him. “He has a welcoming attitude that several students have told me made them decide to attend the Delaware Campus!”
Mackay also highlighted Knott’s personal connection. “Every morning, he always asks each of us, ‘How are you?’ I feel that question is his way of checking in with us to make sure we are OK.”
