Client of the Semester
HAOQUN GUO
"I originally came from China, and I was a transfer student at Ohio State majoring in Economics. My plan at first was to graduate from OSU at the end of 2020. However, I encountered some unexpected difficulties in my study and life. I was afraid to meet people and to go to classes because I had difficulty understanding what people were saying and expressing my opinion clearly.
2019 was bad for me but 2020 was worse. Because of the pandemic and the fear of meeting people, I had to face all the challenges with loneliness and helplessness. I was depressed and almost gave up on myself. Fortunately, things changed when I went to Columbus State as a transient student.
At first, I took a few classes in Spring 2021. Then I found out that there were some personal training sessions offered by College Recreation and Wellness in the autumn semester. And the student price was incredibly affordable. I thought that was exactly what I wanted! So, I came here with the idea of giving it a try. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the environment and atmosphere at CRW. And I was so glad to work with Dustin and Grace this semester. They trained me with their specialized knowledge and encouraged me in a positive way which made me feel more confident. They also explained and wrote down everything patiently if I was confused. I could gradually feel that I was stronger and more knowledgeable about fitness than before. I also heard about Grace's adorable baby and Dustin's cute dog. It was fantastic to work with them! Every faculty and staff here are very warm and nice. I was deeply motivated and became optimistic. I have to say the time spent at CRW was so valuable to me and I will regard this place as a community with a sense of belonging because I never feel lonely here."
