Managing your Privacy Settings and Release of Directory Information for Students
As a student at Columbus State, you have the option to share your "directory" information outside of the institution and with the public. "Directory" information for Columbus State Community College, in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974, is designated as the following categories:
- Name
- Address (home/present)
- Telephone Number (home)
- Program of Study/Technology
- Participation in officially recognized activities and sports
- Weight and height of members of athletic teams
- Enrollment status (less than half-time, half-time, part-time, full-time, over full-time, inclusive dates and semesters of enrollment)
- Degrees, certificates, transfer module and awards received (including Dean's List and other honors)
- Most recent previous educational agency or institution attended
- Student's CSCC email addresses for the purposes of electronic proxy and conducting studies on behalf of the College
When you agree to share your directory information, the college may release any or all of your information for the above categories. You may request to have your directory information withheld by completing the FERPA Restriction Form online. Completing this form will enable college staff to increase your privacy settings in Workday Student and will alert all college faculty and staff that you do not wish for this information to be released to the public.
If any time a student who has enabled this restriction on their record chooses to rescind it, they may use the same form linked above to remove it.
