What's Next
The proposed student fee will be the primary source of funding for a campus fitness, recreation, and community center in partnership with the YMCA. This is a critical step toward advancing the initiative, which ultimately must be approved by college and state leaders. This new space will provide access to drop-in child care, regional YMCA access, and the support students need to succeed.
By voting No, this project will not move forward.
Project Timeline
- Student Vote: Sept. 16-30, 2025
- Columbus State Trustee Vote: November 2025
- 2026: If approved, eligible Columbus State students gain access to all YMCAs in central Ohio and the U.S., starting Summer Semester. The fee would not be assessed until Autumn 2028 semester in alignment with the new facility opening.
- 2028: Anticipated opening of Columbus State YMCA with student support of the fee and college and state leaders' approval of the project.
