Safety Training
If you only teach online (no face-to-face courses on campus) you do not need to complete any safety modules.
If you teach on campus and are not exposed to blood borne pathogens, hazardous chemicals, or electrical equipment, then you must complete the Fire Extinguisher and Emergency Preparedness modules.
If you work with students in clinical settings only (not on CSCC campus), you must complete the Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazard Communications I & II and Personal Protective Equipment modules.
If you work on campus in labs with the potential for bloodborne pathogens and/or hazardous materials, complete Fire Extinguisher, Emergency Preparedness, Hazard Communication I & II, Personal Protective Equipment and/or Blood borne Pathogens modules.
Safety Training for employees is available online through Blackboard. Log in to Blackboard and click on the “My Organizations” tab. Select “Health & Safety Training.” The modules are listed in the left column. Contact employeelearning@cscc.edu about accessing the modules, its content and requirements.
Starfish is found inside Blackboard. It is a monitoring tool that lets you send kudos and warnings to students who are not attending or doing poorly. Warnings are copied to relevant retention and intervention specialists. Some departments have arranged to have the Blackboard grade book trigger alert notices through the Starfish system. Check with your department to see if this is enabled. Contact Ryan Fissel (614-287-2550) for Early Alert training. Click here for Starfish Overview.
