Explore.Cscc.edu Program Search Tool
Open Comment Period
As Marketing and Communications prepares to launch the new Explore.Cscc.edu Program Search Tool, we're asking for feedback on how the tool works and suggestions on making it easier to use.
We're also asking academic departments to review their information and send in changes. Keep reading for directions on how to update your information (most information will be updated through CurrIQnet as part of the regular curriculum process.)
Please send questions and feedback to Tony Goins, web content manager, at tgoins10@cscc.edu.
Explore.cscc.edu, launching in Spring 2022, is intended to allow students to quickly find programs and narrow down their options. It is the first source of information for most prospective students exploring Columbus State's majors and programs. The new tool replaces a search tool launched in 2017, and includes these new features:
- Search programs, courses, careers and transfer agreements in one place.
- Filter your search by Pathway, subject or degree type.
- Programs include career information and transfer options.
- Print option for one-page overviews. Overview Style Guide
Updating Your Information
Information in Explore.cscc.edu comes from three sources:
- CurrIQNet. Most information in the catalog search tool comes from CurrIQnet, and should be changed there using the regular curriculum process. Consult this Academic Overview Style Guide to see which fields in CurrIQnet to make changes to your catalog information. Changes to your program's name or alpha code may break links in Explore.cscc.edu.
- Transfer options and careers are managed on a separate spreadsheet managed by Marketing & Communications, Career Services and Arts & Sciences Advising.
- Some metadata on programs (such as department or subject) is managed on a separate spreadsheet by Marketing & Communications.

Writing Tips
Explore.cscc.edu features the short descriptions that were developed for all programs during the Academic Overview (one-pager) project. These exist separately in CurrIQNet from the official descriptions that are provided to accrediting bodies.
These short descriptions should be written primarily for prospective students. Explore.cscc.edu is the first (and often only) source of information that prospective students have about programs while they're considering Columbus State.
- Each description should quickly describe what the major is, what students will learn, and why students would want to study it.
- Use friendly, approachable language, and avoid academic jargon.
- There is a separate Opportunities for Graduates field where you can describe students' potential next steps, including transferring to another college, becoming qualified for a job in a particular field, obtaining a certification, or sitting for a licensing exam.
- Keep short descriptions to around 200 words or less.
Consult the Academic Overview Style Guide for more writing tips and a guide to where your information is located in CurrIQnet.
