Wonder School, the lab school for the Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) program, is celebrating five years of offering best practices and high-quality early childhood experiences for preschool-age children and student teachers.
Wonder School is a partnership between Columbus State and The Columbus Museum of Art, where creativity and discovery are fostered for young children and the next generation of early childhood educators. Read more and see pictures.
The vision of Wonder School ("To change the culture of early childhood education in Central Ohio through collaboration and creativity.") is met as 100 ECDE practicum students (student teachers) have completed a semester-long experience at Wonder School.
ECDE students can put into practice the knowledge and skills they gain through their college classes, with the benefit of ongoing mentorship and reflection. Wonder School enrolls twelve children ages 3-5 years who are exposed to an arts-rich environment that focuses on creativity, critical thinking, and social justice. Children attend Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon.
Wonder School is located in The Childhood League Center on the Fort Hayes campus. If you are interested in more information about Wonder School or are interested in enrolling your preschool-age child, contact Melanie Adams, Human Services professor, at madams@cscc.edu.
