Columbus State’s new academic program search tool launches March 1

Update | Tuesday, February 22, 2022

Explore, Columbus State’s new academic program and catalog search tool, will launch on Tuesday, March 1. The tool will be located at explore.cscc.edu

It is designed to help prospective students explore degree and certificate programs and potential career paths that align with their academic and career interests. Explore aggregates multiple data sources, including CurrIQnet, ONet, transfer agreement and program delivery mode databases, and more to show prospective students Columbus State’s degree and certificate program offerings, sample schedules, curriculum plans, admission requirements, and potential career outlooks based on real time data.

Aptly named, Explore is just that – an exploration tool to help students find Columbus State academic programs that match their academic and career interests, and then take the next step in choosing Columbus State. As always, registration decisions should be based on the official academic catalog and made in consultation with an advisor and the student’s academic plan and degree audit.

Explore has been developed over the last three years and is an update of the catalog search tool that launched in 2017. Your feedback was incorporated following testing last summer. We’ll continue to refine the tool as we receive additional feedback. The tool includes:

  • More customized search options allowing students to search degrees and programs, courses, careers and transfer agreements in one search box.
  • Results that can be filtered by program type, delivery mode, pathway or academic department.
  • Search results that match academic programs with related career and transfer options.
  • Printable PDF of real-time, database-informed academic program overviews

Academic departments: Please review your catalog content for accuracy, clarity to a prospective student, and completeness. The search tool pulls the majority of its information for CurrIQnet, so most changes will be handled there. We are also using the same career information that is located in Career Coach, so we will also have an opportunity to review that. Check out this Explore Tool Web Page for more information on what to check and how to address issues.

View our introduction video here, and then preview the new tool. Keep a log of any bugs, content issues or other feedback as you go, and submit your feedback to Tony Goins, web content coordinator, at tgoins10@cscc.edu.
