Joint concert March 3

Join the Columbus State Concert Band and the Jazz Ensemble as they present a free joint concert. The Concert Band, under the direction of Thomas Lloyd, will be performing the music of women composers including Dame Ethel Smyth, Nadia Boulanger, Kimberly Archer, Lauren Bernofsky, and Jocelyn Hagen. 

The Jazz Ensemble, directed by Kie Watkins, will play two selections by Duke Ellington and works by Sammy Nestico, Sammy Cahn, and Bruno Mars. 

The concert will conclude with both groups performing “Tuning Up” by Toshiko Akiyoshi. It is a special arrangement for combined concert and jazz bands by Thomas Lloyd, which has been authorized by the composer.

This special concert will be held on Tuesday, March 3 at 8 p.m. in the Ballroom on the fourth floor of the Workforce Development building, 315 Cleveland Ave.
