CougarCon 2024 provided a fusion of pop culture and career development at Columbus State. Hundreds of students, staff, and the public attended the second annual event on May 17 and 18 in the Center for Workforce Development. This year's theme – "career day” – seamlessly blended entertainment with professional development, offering attendees a unique experience celebrating their passions while equipping them with essential skills for their future endeavors.
From captivating cooking demonstrations by talented culinary students to mesmerizing student art and photography exhibitions showcasing the artistic prowess of Columbus State's own, CougarCon was a testament to the diverse talents nurtured within the college community. The art exhibit, featuring many multimedia expressions, provided a platform for students to showcase their creativity and innovation, further reinforcing Columbus State's commitment to fostering artistic excellence.
CougarCon's lineup of pop-culture panels, curated by students, faculty, and external partners, offered insightful discussions on a wide range of topics, from queer media representation to neurodivergence. The youngest presenter was 11 years old and left a lasting impact by inspiring attendees with passion and talent. These panels entertained and emphasized the event's dedication to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the college and beyond.
