Volunteers prepared 500 turkeys in Mitchell Hall on Nov. 24. Later that week, they were oven-roasted in the various kitchens in the building before being distributed.
Columbus State students, faculty, and staff spent Thanksgiving week assisting in the 12th annual Thanksgiving fundraiser “Fry Out Cancer.” They prepared – then roasted – 500 turkeys, which were taken to 13 community organizations to be distributed to families in need. (A separate external group of volunteers deep-fried 144 turkeys at another location.)
Over the years, Fry Out Cancer has raised more than a quarter-million dollars for the G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute in Columbus. The event raised more than $40,000 this year. Monetary donations are accepted at any time at this link.
