The Columbus State Concert Band hosted a virtual visit from composer Carrie Magin on February 22.Magin attended from a New York location while Thomas Lloyd conducted the band performing her composition, "And the Nightwatchers Awake."

During the virtual visit, Magin explained her music writing methods and encouraged student composers. The event was made possible with assistance from Teaching Help, DEIS, and IT Support. Lloyd says the assistance allowed the band to be heard by the composer without distortion.

The Concert Band will perform Magin’s composition during its Spring Concert on Tuesday, April 26 at 7 p.m. in the fourth-floor Ballroom in the Center for Workforce Development, 315 Cleveland Ave. It is free and open to the public.
