Library partners to co-host virtual poetry event this Friday

The Columbus State Library and the Columbus Metropolitan Library will co-host a virtual poetry event entitled "Healing Through Poetry" featuring poet Barbara Fant. Columbus State English Professor Crystal Clark will serve as moderator.

Fant has competed in nine national and world poetry slams, placed 8th out of 96 poets in the 2017 Women of the World Poetry Slam, and was a member of the team that won the Rustbelt Regional Poetry Slam in 2008. She is the author of the poetry collection “Paint, Inside Out,” and two chapbooks, “RibCaged” and “Them Brilliant Suns.” Fant won the Cora Craig Award for Young Authors and holds degrees in literature, creative writing, and theological studies. She considers poetry her ministry.

Clark has taught composition, creative writing, and literature for more than 25 years and has been the recipient of the College’s Distinguished Teaching Award and Distinguished Full Professor Award. She holds a Master of Arts in English from The Ohio State University, a Master of Theological Studies from the Methodist Theological School in Ohio, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Toledo

Healing Through Poetry will be held on Friday, July 31 at 2 p.m.
