Students Volunteer With Habitat for Humanity
Campus News | Tuesday, March 27, 2018
For Alternative Spring Break, Columbus State students and staff volunteered in Cleveland through Habitat for Humanity.
The Cleveland Habitat for Humanity focuses on rehabbing vacant homes for families in need instead of building new homes from the ground up. There are currently more than 5,000 vacant homes in the greater Cleveland area. Through this model, Habitat for Humanity is able to make home ownership possible for more families.
From March 12-15, volunteers helped with demolition, the first step of rehabbing a home. Recently, the student volunteers presented at Columbus State about their experiential service learning through Alternative Spring Break.
