Our Commitment to Central Ohio

Since 2011, Columbus State Community College has led a regional strategy, The Central Ohio Compact, which has initiated a convergence of system-wide process solutions to retain students within the education pipeline by reducing or eliminating remediation, expanding early college opportunities, and guaranteeing a bachelor's degree pathway to universities in the region.

An early initiative of the Compact was to build a system of grades 9-14 career pathways in collaboration with employers and aligned with labor market demands by joining the Pathways to Prosperity Network. This was made possible due to the support of JPMorgan Chase, the Ohio Business Roundtable, Battelle and the Educational Service Center.

The Central Ohio Compact, with a joint resolution adopted by numerous Central Ohio school districts and seven higher education institutions, has cemented a foundation for a regional strategy to achieve Lumina Foundation's national goal of having 60 percent of Americans earning a post-secondary degree or certification by 2025.
