Workforce Advisory Council

Columbus State has established itself as a key talent provider in Central Ohio, helping students access in-demand careers and partnering with employers to fill workforce gaps. 

The Workforce Advisory Council — a group of chief talent and community officers representing major regional employers — provides leadership and expertise on developing career pathways for students, talent strategies that uplift the community, and other creative solutions to meet Central Ohio’s workforce needs. Columbus State serves as the regional convener and catalyst in this work.

The council is co-chaired by Columbus State President Dr. David Harrison and Tom Poole, the Talent Acquisition Director
at OSU Wexner Medical Center.

Tanny Crane, President & CEO
Crane Group

Tanny Crane is president and CEO of Crane Group Co. She has also served on the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, as well as the board of Wendy's International and State Savings Bank. Crane is widely recognized for her and her company’s philanthropy throughout Central Ohio.

Donald Dennis, Community Development Director
Huntington Bank

Donald Dennis oversees Community Development, Multicultural Banking, and Financial Literacy at Huntington Bancshares Incorporated, a $223 billion regional bank headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. He leads partnerships with public-sector and community-based organizations to advance Huntington’s $40 billion Community Plan, which expands access to capital and resources to strengthen economic vitality and address social, racial, and economic inequities in under-resourced communities. Dennis was recognized as a Top 100 Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer by the National Diversity and Leadership Conference and named one of Savoy Magazine’s Most Influential Black Executives in Corporate America in 2022. Previously, he led diversity, equity, inclusion, and culture at Huntington and held leadership roles at Nationwide Financial Services, as well as technology management positions at Chase, BISYS Fund Services, and Accenture. He serves on the boards of the Mid-Ohio Food Collective and Columbus Community Kitchen, LLC, the UNCF Columbus Leadership Council, and the Executive Council for the GroundBreak Coalition. Dennis completed executive leadership programs at the University of Michigan and the University of Virginia Darden School of Business and holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and English Literature from The College of Wooster.

Her ability to communicate effectively, influence stakeholders, and prioritize competing demands enables her to deliver results in fast‑paced, high‑volume environments.

Michelle Grieshop, Division Lead of Human Capital
Honda

Michelle is a national human resources director specializing in strategy development for health care, wellbeing, retirement, retirement investments, talent acquisition and development. She has experience in matrix organization, evolving best practices for total rewards strategies, and leadership development. She also has had success in delivering multimillion-dollar projects on time and below allotted budget through effective strategic planning and ability to prioritize. She brings a proven ability to communicate and influence throughout all levels of an organization.

Honda was the first Japanese automaker to produce products in America, beginning with motorcycles in 1979, followed by the start of automobile production in Marysville on Nov. 1, 1982. The company’s 12 plants in the U.S. employ more than 22,000 workers.

Noel Klay

Currently, Noel is leading a direct/indirect global team of over 40 and is responsible for the Pharmaceutical, Specialty Solutions, and NPHS divisions. Beyond her core responsibilities, Shannon serves as the HR Co-Market Head for the Columbus Market, supporting 15,000 local employees. She plays a key role in shaping strategic decisions as a member of the Market Executive Leadership Team, contributing to the growth and success of the Columbus region.

Sarah O’Reilly is the Senior Director of Human Resources for Andelyn Biosciences, with over 17 years in the manufacturing industry. Prior to her role at Andelyn, she worked at Honda of America Manufacturing. Sarah currently serves on the Workforce Advisory Council for Central Ohio that partners with local businesses and educational institutes to bridge existing talent gaps between employer needs and workforce skillsets.

Andelyn Biosciences is a gene therapy CDMO that supports companies developing curative gene therapies for rare and prevalent diseases. With 20-plus years of experience manufacturing viral vectors, Andelyn’s scientific expertise for development and characterization of gene therapies has led to GMP material being produced for over 75 worldwide clinical trials and more than 400 cGMP clinical batches.

A strong advocate of supporting the plight of others, Porter has served in leadership roles on numerous nonprofit boards including the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture in Charlotte, NC; the Housing and Neighborhood Development Service (HANDS) in Erie, PA; and the Youth Leadership Institute, also in Erie, PA. Since joining Nationwide in 2018, Chad has held strategic HR leadership roles, most recently serving as Senior Human Resources Business Partner for Nationwide Financial, advising executives on talent, culture, and organizational effectiveness. Previously, Chad spent several years at Microsoft in global HR and talent acquisition roles, where he designed and scaled early‑career programs and modernized university recruiting initiatives aligned to long‑term workforce priorities. Ashlyn Schneider, Sr Manager Talent Acquisition

Ashlyn Schneider joined Worthington Enterprises (formally Worthington Industries) in 2013 and is the Sr. Manager of Talent Acquisition. Throughout her career she has led strategic initiatives to support hourly and salary recruiting for the organization. Ashlyn and team have worked to identify new pipelines of talent through building strong partnerships with K12 school districts, career-tech institutions, and colleges and universities across the US. Ashlyn led the first ever Worthington Workforce Experience, transforming learning and offering high school seniors a chance to explore a career in manufacturing during their last year of school, ultimately leading to full time employment upon graduation. She stood up the Worthington Industries Internship Program and the DoD Military SkillBridge Program, providing career opportunities for those preparing to transition out of the service. Emily Toney, Local Market Executive

As Market Executive for Columbus at Bank of America, Toney works closely in partnership with the Market President and leadership team to help connect businesses, families and individuals to the banking and investment teams that will help improve their financial lives. Toney brings her 20-plus years of leadership in the Columbus nonprofit community as an events and development professional. She currently serves on the boards of Gateway Film Center, Franklin Park Conservatory and Creative Ohio. She is a graduate of the 2016 Leadership Columbus program and the 2022 Elevate Columbus class.

Consulting with regional companies regarding their talent needs, they facilitate connections and dialogue among various private, public, state, and nonprofit resources. For companies seeking to expand operations or introduce a new operation in the region, his team works on customized proposals to meet talent needs now and in the future.

One Columbus is the economic development organization for the 11-county Columbus region. Working with local and state partners, the team serves as a business location resource for companies across Central Ohio and around the world. Since 2010, the One Columbus team has helped more than 650 domestic and international companies achieve their growth goals by locating in the Columbus Region, resulting in over $34 billion capital invested and more than 68,000 new jobs created.

Walt Williamson joined Intel in August 2022 as the Director of Talent Acquisition for Intel Ohio. He has since expanded his role to be the Global Head of University Recruiting and Intern Programming at Intel Corporation. He has spent most of his career in HR, primarily in Talent Acquisition. As a life-long Ohioan, he’s proud to support the growth and leading-edge technology in Ohio.

Felicia Wilson, VP of Marketing & Community Workforce Programs
Dawson

Felicia Wilson joined Dawson in 2012 and is the Vice President of Marketing and Community Workforce Programs. Felicia is responsible for launching Dawson’s Community Workforce Programs in 2015 to aid in building a strong pipeline of talent for the Columbus region. Wilson volunteers with many community organizations, including the Ronald McDonald House, Dream Center Columbus, and Big Brothers Big Sisters Project Mentor.

Dawson is a workforce solutions company offering job placements, HR Management Solutions, and Community Workforce Programs. What started in 1946 as a service to help soldiers find jobs as they returned home from WWII has turned into a leader in workforce solutions. Dawson engages with the Workforce Advisory Council to help create a strong talent pipeline for the Columbus region by bridging the gap between education and workforce needs.

Lorina Wise, SVP, Chief Human Resources Officer
Nationwide Childrens Hospital 

Lorina Wise is the SVP, Chief Human Resources Officer at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She joined Nationwide Children’s legal department in 2012, where she served as Deputy General Counsel and worked closely with Human Resources as senior counsel on employment matters and lead counsel for the Abigail Wexner Research Institute. Lorina assumed the role of CHRO in 2018.

Prior to joining Nationwide Children’s, Lorina worked at Carnegie Mellon University as the Senior Director of International Human Resources and Enterprise Risk Management. Lorina also worked at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC for approximately 10 years, including serving as General Counsel of Pittsburgh Childrens Hospital. Lorina was in the Office of the City Solicitor for the City of Pittsburgh for several years where she advised and represented the city on a broad variety of employment matters with its union and non-union workforce. Lorina started her legal career working for the Superior Court of Pennsylvania, as staff attorney and as a law clerk for the Honorable Justin M. Johnson. Lorina’s legal career has been committed to public sector and nonprofit law. Lorina has served on a number of nonprofit boards and currently serves as a Board member for Columbus State Community College, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio, the YMCA of Central Ohio, and Civista Bank of Sandusky, Ohio.  

Lorina earned her juris doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law located in her hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and her bachelor's degree in international relations from The Johns Hopkins University.
