RAVE Mobile Safety

RAVE Mobile Safety is Columbus State’s text message alert system to make sure you stay safe on campus. You will not be sent commercials. We’re using RAVE for emergencies on campus and snow days only.

In addition to emergency text alerts, you will receive RAVE alerts in your Columbus State email automatically.

Signing up for RAVE takes less than two minutes:

• Follow this link
• Enter your Columbus State login (your email without the @student.cscc.edu)
• Enter your Columbus State password
• Register your devices
• Verify your cell phone number
• Download the RAVE app (download links at the top of this page)

Non-CSCC Students and Employees: Parents, nearby college students, and community members can also sign up for Columbus State RAVE using this link and your full email address.

Now you are signed up for safety alerts and resources! You can also complete your RAVE profile and specify any emergency contacts.

Safety with RAVE also includes RAVE Tipline and RAVE Guardian features on the RAVE app:

• RAVE Tipline allows anyone to send discreet emergency text messages directly to the Columbus State Police Department (CSPD). Tipline can support you if there is ever a situation where you may not be able to call 911 or CSPD.
• RAVE Guardian allows you to set up a virtual security escort to make sure you safely reach your destination on campus.

RAVE Tipline

Text CSCCTIP to 67283 if you are unable to call 911 or CSPD at (614) 287-2525. In your message, type CSCCTIP and a space, then type your emergency. Everything sent after the space will be sent to CSPD as your tip. You can also use the RAVE Guardian app (links at the top of this page) to send a discreet tip to CSPD.

Whether in an emergency where you cannot call CSPD or you need to report suspicious activity, use the RAVE Guardian app or text 67283 and the Columbus State Police Department will be notified and respond within seconds.

RAVE Guardian

The RAVE Guardian app offers Columbus State students and employees a timer feature that provides a virtual security escort to make sure you reach your destination on campus safely. The app activates your virtual security escort, which is monitored directly by CSPD.

How to use the RAVE Guardian Virtual Security Escort:

1. Download the RAVE Guardian app:

2. Click on the "Safety Timers" icon.
3. Set a timer for how long you think it will take to get to your destination. Designate an emergency contact and any relevant notes. Click Start Timer.
4. The bottom right-hand button on the screen opens a selection of functions, including the Deactivate button and Call CSPD button.
5. Once you make it safely to your destination, click Deactivate on the bottom right-hand button.

If you do not deactivate your virtual security escort timer, you will receive a call from the Columbus State Police Department to confirm if you need emergency assistance. RAVE Guardian allows CSPD to locate your general location through compatible GPS and cellular systems. This technology cannot provide your exact location.
