AWS Academy is a new Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS) program, designed to expand learning opportunities in cloud computing throughout the world, in an effort to meet the growing employment demand for cloud computing specialists. Knowledge gained will help you earn valuable industry-recognized certifications in AWS.

Columbus State frequently offers the Academy Cloud Fundamentals as well as a varying option of Associate-level certification prep courses. Check the AWS Academy website for course descriptions and upcoming course offerings.

When students enroll in an AWS Academy course, they are acquiring and expanding the skills and credentials needed for careers in cloud computing technology. It also puts them on a path to prepare for industry-recognized AWS Certifications. Student enrolling in an AWS Academy course also receive a certification practice exam and discount voucher. 

The Academy Cloud Foundations course is entry-level; however, participants should have the following:

  • General IT Technical Knowledge
  • General IT Business Knowledge

Students have the opportunity to learn cloud computing through creative interactive learning, lab work, and state-of-the-art digital educational materials that AWS Academy provides through their exclusive Learning Management System (LMS) platform. All content is regularly updated by AWS to reflect the latest services and best practices.

Trained and accredited AWS instructors who hold associate and professional level AWS certifications teach the courses. Instructors are equipped with knowledge, tools, and teaching techniques to help students become proficient in AWS services and solutions and prepare college graduates and professionals at all levels to advance their careers in cloud computing technologies and business transformation.

All course content exists in a virtual space, but to ensure the best learning outcomes and offer technical support for hands-on activities, AWS Academy courses are currently offered face-to-face only.

Academy Cloud Foundations: nine-week course and meets 1 night per week.

Yes. After completing either course, Ohio educators may receive continuing education units through the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio (if applicable). For more information, visit www.escco.org and view professional development opportunities.
